Combating Over-the-Counter Medicine and Prescription Drug Abuse In Your Community (CHPA presentation at CADCA National Leadership Forum, Feb. 2010)
Sharing information with others in your community, through events like a town hall meeting, is an easy way to get involved. That’s why StopMedicineAbuse.org and the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) are partnering with communities nationwide to help raise awareness at the local level about cough medicine abuse.
There are two important steps in planning a local event: making sure you can get the word out about your event and ensuring that you have the right materials for the audience. The toolkit has all of the information that you will need to plan and host a successful event.
The toolkit has materials designed specifically for a variety of audiences who may be in attendance at your local event. Check out the information below so that you can easily print and make copies for community members who are likely to be in attendance:
Additionally, CADCA, in collaboration with the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, created Community Briefings: A Prevention Tool for Communities to provide a step-by-step explanation of the planning process, including tips on how to organize and promote a community briefing, how to best utilize the information gained from the meeting, and real-life examples of how community briefings can build community awareness.
